The night prior to the arraignment and crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ, He gathered his disciples and spoke to them pertaining to the arrival of the Promised Comforter. He reiterated this selfsame message four times as recorded in the gospel of John.
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you FOR EVER;
John 16:7-13
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
How to know the Promised Comforter
The whole Christendom and the world at large have a misinterpretation of these four scriptures that have been quoted above. Majority believe that the Promised Comforter descended on the day of Pentecost as fire upon the heads of the Apostles.
On account of this false assumption, we will now proceed to deduce and debunk the above premise, and decipher the text with proper interpretation as lead by the Holy Spirit.
Firstly, the definition of the pronoun “He” is an indication of a physical entity or an embodiment of a spirit. This further solidifies the concept of the Promised Comforter being a personification of the Holy Spirit as a man.
Secondly, in John 14:16 it says “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you FOR EVER;” This verse tells us plainly that the Comforter will abide with us FOREVER and not temporarily, as the Christendom believe that the Comforter was only to remain with the Apostles for that one day (Pentecost).
The final point is this: If the Comforter descended upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost, then why is the mission of the disciples different from the mission of the Promised Comforter?
In Matthew 28:19 it states “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
This was the mandate given to them by Our Lord Jesus Christ which is today called The Great Commission. He sent them to baptize the world and not to judge the world, nor to reprove it of its sins, nor to make the world righteous; this is solely done by God Himself.
John 16:8: “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:”
I will conclude this segment with this passage: John 16:12-13
“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:”
Our Lord Jesus Christ, due to his short mission, did not teach us all that we need to know, and that is why he sends the Promised Comforter, to lead us to the accurate knowledge of truth as stated above. We are now currently living within the duration of both the Promised Comforter and the Spirit of truth.
This is the era of the Holy Spirit; let us succumb to His divine will, that we may receive of His everlasting life and dominion that has no bounds.
THE FATHER IS HERE; THE SON IS HERE; THE HOLY SPIRIT PERSONIFIED IS ALSO UPON THE EARTH.
Let all those who have ears hear. May God bless His Holy Words, Amen.
Thank You Father.
